What is a Grab Overhead Crane and What are its Uses?

In an industrial set-up, heavy materials need to be moved over places in a precise manner. A grab overhead crane is equipment which is specially engineered to lift and move these materials and goods from one place to another. This crane is capable of being manually operated, semi-automated or fully automated. Mentioned below are some of its major components:
  • Hook that supports the lifted load
  • Hoist that holds, raises or lowers the load
  • Trolley that supports the hoist
  • Bridge, a load-bearing beam
  • Runway through the crane travels
  • Runway rail which is supported by the runway
  • End trucks that moves the bridge up and down through wheels
  • Bumpers which controls the speed of the crane or trolley
  • Controls that is used to operate the machine

Apart from this electrification system is attached to power up the equipment.

It is easy for one to find wide variety of Grab Overhead Crane in the market with different levels of lifting capacity and speed. Each of them is designed to serve different application or purpose of a factory or construction house with their technical specifications. They are as follows:

  • Bridge Crane (with single or double girder)
  • Gantry Crane
  • Monorail Crane
  • Jib Crane
  • Workstation Crane

Using a grab overhead crane system includes several benefits for which it becomes a good option for manufacturing industries. These cranes are designed to have better control via remote system or convenient manual command that improves the workflow and increase the cost efficiency. They are also widely acceptable for safety measures.
